Dr. Deanna Merritt
Assistant Professor
Marketing and Management
Dr. Merritt has been teaching for over a
decade..it is one of her passions! As an
instructor, her goal is to bring relevance
and excitement to the classroom through a
variety of interesting and engaging
techniques. Learning is hard work, but it
can be fun, too! Students in her classroom
are held to high standards and they meet
them--driven to achieve both technical
competencies as well as those indispensable
soft skills. As a result of her dedication
to her students and the educational process,
Dr. Merritt is an honored recipient of the
distinguished Excellence in Teaching and the
Innovative Teaching Awards.
Beyond the classroom, Dr. Merritt is
actively involved in research and writing on
those topics of greatest relevance to
organizational professionals in today's
competitive marketplace. Recent work
includes exploring the issues of employee
engagement, job sculpting, and talent
management. Other articles authored by Dr.
Merritt include the topics of performance
appraisal dysfunction and employee skills
gaps. In the educational arena, Dr. Merritt
has written on the importance of bringing
workplace reality into the classroom. She
presents her work at both academic and
professional meetings.
