Save the date for the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 Career Fairs! Mark your calendar so you don’t miss this great opportunity for GBC students and alumni to meet employers on campus!

Event Date Time Location
Fall Career Fair Wednesday, October 10, 2012 3-5 pm Michele M. Rollins Atrium
Spring Career Fair Wednesday, March 13, 2013 3-5 pm Michele M. Rollins Atrium
  • Why attend the Career Fair?

    • It’s a great networking opportunity to meet with the employers and find out more about the employment opportunities within their companies.

  • Who should attend the Career Fair?

    • EVERYONE! The Career Fair should benefit all students and alumni, whether you are looking for an internship, full time, or part time work.  The wide variety of employers are looking for college students and alumni with degrees.

FRESHMAN/ SOPHOMORES: Gain experience in networking with employers; Who has summer jobs?  Internships?  What kinds of roles are available in what kinds of companies and organizations?

JUNIORS: Search for organizations that offer internships with relevant “hands on experience”, develop opportunities or other interesting opportunities.

SENIORS: Search for your career at a company that will fit your expectations and lifestyle.

GRADUATE STUDENTS: Meet representatives and learn about organizations that may provide opportunities to grow your career

  • How do I prepare for the Career Fair?

    • Bring plenty of resumes. You should have at least 40 to 50 on resume paper, (light ivory or off white).  Before making several copies, have another set of eyes view for any misspellings or typos. Contact Career Services Center for a Resume Critique (225-6256)
    • Research the employers prior to attending.  (See list of employers on www.gbc.edu/career)  Recruiters will be impressed if you know something about their company prior to visiting their tables.
    • Be Professional. First impressions count. Make excellent eye contact and give a firm handshake to every employer.
    • Dress in professional attire. A dark solid color suit, or nice pressed pants and/or skirt and a button down collared shirt, with matching blazer.  NO JEANS OR SWEATS PLEASE!
    • Prepare a one minute presentation about yourself. Introduce yourself and the degree you will receive, plus information about your work experience and why you are interested in the company.
    • Supply your resume to the employer and get a business card. If interested, ask for information on the hiring process and timing.  Within a week, send a follow up letter reiterating your interest and resend a new resume.
    • Smile, relax and have fun…
