ROUND HILL, VA (October 18, 2004) – The Goldey-Beacom College Men’s Cross Country Team Took 20^th Place while the women took 22^nd Saturday afternoon at the 2004 De Sales University Invitational in Virginia

The Lightning men finished with a total of 527 points and the women finished with 644. Overall, Dickinson College captured both the men’s and women’s team championships with Kutztown University’s men and women finishing second in each.

Individually, Mike Vidumsky of De Sales University won the men’s 8K race with a time of 26:26.80, edging Matt Liebal of Dickinson College by 17 seconds. On the women’s side, Vanessa Andes of East Stroudsburg finished in first place in their 5K race with a time of 22:54.15, defeating Emily Hulme of Dickinson College by 17 seconds.

Junior Brad Paski (Wilmington, DE) was the top finisher amongst the Goldey-Beacom men, placing 58^th with a time of 28:35.54. Sophomore Matt Lang (Chestertown, MD) was next in 79^th place at 29:04.87, followed by sophomore Mickey Jones (Newark, DE) in 127^th place at 30:18.09, junior Chip Lewis (Newark, DE) in 142^nd place at 31:14.11, freshman Rashad Matthews (Milford, DE) in 146^th place at 31:29.66, sophomore Brian Kirk (Wilmington, DE) in 150^th place at 31:43.50 and freshman Alan Passwaters (Houston, DE) in 173^rd place at 35:04.96.

Freshman Kate Lewis (Newark, DE) was the top finisher for the Goldey-Beacom women’s cross country team, placing 89^th with a time of 27:42.89. Classmate Jessica Kaszeta (Wilmington, DE) was next in 119^th place with a time of 28:58.58, followed by junior Brandy Ash (Dagsboro, DE) in 168^th place with a time of 33:18.16, junior LuLu Maseko (Swaziland) in 176^th place at 34:56.20 and Nonhlanhla Maseko (Swaziland) in 182^nd place at 36:36.60.

The Lightning conclude the 2004 regular season next Saturday when they compete in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Championships at Belmont Plateau.
